Japanese Black Tea

Shizuoka is the birthplace of Japanese black tea. Black tea was made from 1874 in Japan. The Meiji government dispatched Motokichi Toda to India in 1876. Motokichi Toda cultivated tea plantation in Mariko Shizuoka-shi. He learned the manufacturing method of black tea in India. He spread knowledge all over Japan after return home. Shizuoka produced approximately 96% of domestic tea in 1955. Japan government abolished restrictions on tea imports in 1971. Therefore the domestic tea was hardly pruduced it. However, efforts are underway to revive it in late years.

The Japanese black is said to be “Wakoucha” in Japan. The characteristic of Japanese black tea is that they make the most of the flavor of the fruit, leave you with a refreshing taste and a clean after taste.
Please drink it straight without sugar and milk.
Japanese black tea is manufacture in small quantities. Therefore it is very precious tea.
